Suspect arrested after large meth bust in northern Arizona

Coconino County Sheriff's Office pulled over a driver south of Flagstaff and found 41 pounds of methamphetamine inside the car, officials said.

FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AZFamily) — One person has been arrested after northern Arizona authorities found over 40 pounds of methamphetamine during a freeway traffic stop.

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office said deputies in its K-9 unit stopped a vehicle heading north on Interstate 17 in the Flagstaff area around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Deputies arrested the driver on a warrant out of Maricopa County and began to search the vehicle, during which deputies found about 41 pounds of meth.

The driver was booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility on a charge of transportation of dangerous drugs for sale and the Maricopa County warrant.

This incident is still under investigation, and no other information is available.

The person who was arrested was not identified.
