CAMP VERDE, AZ (AZFamily) — A northern Arizona community is mourning the recent loss of a firefighter.

The Copper Canyon Fire & Medical Authority in Camp Verde says that firefighter Shane Gage suddenly passed away on Friday, Sept. 27. The department did not release information on his death.

Gage leaves behind a wife of eight years, a daughter and his parents.

He was a resident of Prescott Valley and joined the Copper Canyon Fire and Medical Authority in 2017. He was also a Sedona Verde Valley Firefighters Association Local 3690 member.

“Shane was truly an excellent firefighter and an even better friend. It was an honor to work alongside him and to call him a brother,” Copper Canyon Fire & Medical Authority said in a Facebook post.

A GoFundMe has been set up for anyone that would like to help the Gage family during this time.
