Woman found dead inside car during traffic stop in Flagstaff

FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AZFamily) — Police are investigating after a woman was found dead inside a car during a traffic stop in Flagstaff on Monday.

The woman has been identified as 38-year-old Sandy Singer of Tonalea, which is about 100 miles northeast of Flagstaff on the Navajo Nation.

Around 3 p.m., Flagstaff police received reports of a man putting an unresponsive woman into a vehicle along Beulah Boulevard and driving away. A few minutes later, officers spotted a vehicle that matched the description provided about two miles north of the original location.

Police made contact with the vehicle over at a motel near Milton Road and Butler Avenue and found an unresponsive woman inside. Officers attempted life-saving measures until paramedics arrived, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Flagstaff PD, the driver was interviewed and released. Since then, investigators have served multiple search warrants, processed evidence and conducted numerous interviews.

Right now, the case is classified as a suspicious death investigation, and police have not indicated if they believe foul play was involved.
