Phoenix animal rescue volunteers jump into action to save escaped scared horse
PHOENIX (AZFamily) -Volunteers at a Phoenix dog rescue bolted into action on Monday morning to save a horse that had gotten spooked and ran away from home.
Two volunteers with Saving Paws Rescue AZ saw the horse break down a fence and escape from its yard after being scared by firetruck sirens.
They alerted the horse’s owner, while an SRP volunteer called authorities. Another volunteer from the dog rescue jumped into his truck to follow the horse, which was galloping down Union Hills Drive.
Soon after, some good Samaritans managed to stop the horse in the parking lot of a shopping center near 43rd Avenue and keep it from escaping.
The Saving Paws Rescue AZ volunteers, Phoenix police officers and the horse’s owner soon arrived to help the frightened animal.
A video sent to Arizona’s Family shows the owner and horse walking back home with a police escort.
