GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) — New body-camera video and a 911 transcript reveal what murdered Gilbert teen Rachel Hansen told first responders after she was shot in 2022 as police look for her killer.

“I’ve been shot. Someone broke in and shot me,” she first told the 911 dispatcher on June 4, 2022.

The 19-year-old then told them her address.

“Please hurry, please hurry,” she said. “Oh (redacted) I’m bleeding, I’m bleeding.”

The dispatcher urged her to stay on the phone.

“Do you have any kind of clean cloth there that you can apply pressure to it? Is there anybody there with you?” the dispatcher asked.

Hansen said she’s alone and whoever broke in and shot her had left.

“Are you close to any kind of cloth or a shirt or a towel that you can use?” the dispatcher asked.

“No,” Hansen replied.

“There’s nothing near you? Rachel, I need you to talk to me, OK?” the dispatcher said.

“I can’t,” Hansen said.

After about three minutes, the Gilbert Police Department and the Gilbert Fire Department said they were having trouble mapping her address before firefighters got it on the map.

After about four and a half minutes, firefighters and police arrived. The police then said they had to do a security sweep.

That’s when the transcript ends.

The Gilbert Police Department released the videos and 911 transcript, but the videos are blurred, and no 911 audio was made available.

One body-camera video shows an officer with his rifle out helping secure the scene.

The officer then knocks on a neighbor’s door and a woman lets him in. He then searches the apartment.

The audio cuts out so it’s unclear what the neighbors said to him.

Other body-cam videos show officers arriving at the complex and securing the scene.

Hansen was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

Rachel’s family said they are hopeful someone will see this newly released video and come forward.

The case has gone cold, and her mother, Kim Hanson, is working with a private investigator.

“It’s been extremely difficult to continue life to do what we need to do every day without Rachel in it and not having any answers,” said Kim.

She said their family wished the audio of the 911 call was released. “We wanted to hear our daughter’s voice and her last words that she spoke so we were disappointed it was a transcript only.”

Silent Witness is offering up to $7,000 for information in the case.

Kim said their family is desperate for leads. “If anyone sees it for the first time or hears it or it rekindles something please just remember to reach out to Silent Witness.”
