The fire doubled in size overnight.
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Weimer Fire continues to burn near northeastern Arizona in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests.
The lightning-caused wildfire is 40% contained but has grown from 500 to 1,066 acres overnight.
It is currently burning within the 2009 Wagon Draw fire scar between Forest Lakes and Heber-Overgaard.
In an update on Saturday, officials shared that four fire engines, three initial attack crews, two dozers and a helicopter have been dispatched to help fight the blaze.
Due to firefighting efforts, smoke is expected to increase and be visible from Highways 260 and 277, as well as the communities of Forest Lakes and Heber-Overgaard.
Smoke may impact driving visibility in the surrounding areas. Forest Road 170 near the fire is closed as a precaution for public and firefighter safety.
No communities have been ordered to evacuate, and no structures are in danger of being destroyed.
