Police identify 2 killed in murder-suicide outside QuikTrip in Surprise
SURPRISE, AZ (AZFamily) — Two men are dead after a shooting ended in an apparent murder-suicide outside a West Valley gas station early Monday morning.
According to Surprise police, around 5 a.m., officers were called to a QuikTrip near the Loop 303 and Bell Road for shots fired.
When authorities arrived, they found two people near a car who had been shot. Witnesses and officers attempted life-saving measures but both passed away at the scene.
Detectives later identified the pair as 43-year-old Daniel Roman and 49-year-old Lucas Izzo.

Investigators learned that Roman was dating Izzo’s ex-wife, and that Izzo “without provocation,” shot Roman multiple times before turning the gun on himself.
No other injuries were reported, but a heavy police presence could be seen at the convenience store throughout the morning as detectives pieced together the investigation.
Surprise police say that if you know anyone struggling with thoughts of harming themselves or others, call 988 to speak to a trained crisis counselor through the nationwide Suicide and Crisis Hotline.
