HELENA, MT (AZFamily) — A Montana man linked to an Arizona teenager who was missing for years has pleaded guilty to one count of child sex abuse after authorities found child pornography on his cellphone last year, according to the Montana Attorney General’s Office.

Edmund Davis, 37, admitted in a plea deal to possession of the illegal material on his devices, some of which prosecutors say depicted children under the age of 13 with two images depicting children under the age of five.

Prosecutors say the images were found in July 2023 when the Havre Police Department served a search warrant after learning that Alicia Navarro, missing from Glendale, Arizona since she was 14, was living there. Davis hasn’t been charged in connection to Navarro’s disappearance.

At that time, Davis reportedly tried to throw his phone into a trash can and placed other items on top of it to try and hide it. Authorities then obtained a search warrant and found the illegal images.

Navarro left a note behind when she vanished from her home days before her 15th birthday in September 2019, sparking a massive search that included the FBI. She was almost 19 when she walked into the Havre, Montana, police station in July 2023 and said she wanted to be removed from the missing persons list.

Sentencing is set for Dec. 16. Prosecutors want Davis sentenced to 100 years, with 50 years suspended and a 25-year parole restriction.
