Motorcyclist injured in crash involving Tempe streetcar

A motorcyclist is hurt after crashing into the Tempe streetcar near the Arizona State University Tempe campus.

TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily)—Commuters on the Tempe Streetcar experienced delays after a crash Wednesday morning.

The crash involving a motorcycle and the tram happened around 9 a.m. at Apache Boulevard and Normal Avenue, near the Arizona State University Tempe campus.

Tempe police say the motorcyclist appeared to split traffic when the rider sideswiped a vehicle and collided with the Streetcar. The motorcycle rider hurt was believed to be in stable condition.

A damaged motorcycle could be seen as Arizona’s Family crews arrived on the scene.

In Phoenix, a separate crash involving light rail closed Washington Street from 44th Street to 48th Street, just north of Sky Harbor airport that morning. No injuries were reported in that collision.
