PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A Valley realtor is doing Something Good by combining his business with one of his passions to raise scholarship money in honor of two important people.
Carl Ong is a realtor and owner of Agent Ong in the Valley.
Ong is hosting the Agent Ong Open Strikes Back bowling tournament in October, where scholarship money will be given to a student.
The memorial scholarship is in honor of his parents, William and Florence Ong, to give back to the youth that bowl. He says the scholarship is open nationwide, and applicants must submit a 400 to 500-word essay saying what they’re doing to help the community.
“We want to give away at least a thousand dollars this year in scholarships,” Ong said.
The tournament is Oct. 17-20 at Bowlero Kyrene. Last year’s tournament had around 300 participants.
“We have a lot of international players coming this year. Multiple countries are going to be represented in October,” Ong said.
