Arizona State Fair kicks off this week; here’s everything you need to know

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Arizona State Fair is back, and there are plenty of attractions, new food and shows that families and fairgoers will love!

The fair kicks off on Sept. 20 and will run every Thursday through Sunday until Oct. 27. Tickets begin at $15 for guests ages 8 and up. Children 7 and under are free.

Below are the hours for the fair:

  • Mon, Tues and Wed: CLOSED
  • Thursday: 12 p.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Friday: 12 p.m. – 10 p.m.
  • Saturday: 12 p.m. – 10 p.m.
  • Sunday: 12 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Show-Stoppers

The fair isn’t complete without their Coliseum Concert Series! This year’s lineup features The All-American Rejects, Vanilla Ice and Big Time Rush.

  • Saturday, October 12 - All American Rejects
  • Friday, October 18 - Vanilla Ice
  • Friday, October 25 - Big Time Rush

All performances will take the stage at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.

Thrilling Attractions

There will be dozens of rides for thrill-seekers or those who enjoy slower rides. Hop on the Heidi Coaster, Joker 360, Raptor Coaster or Sling Shot to get your adrenaline pumping. Children can enjoy tea cups, tug boats, monster trucks, merry-go-round and more.

Thursdays are for unlimited ride fun! Purchase wristbands on-site only from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. for $50. Wristbands are honored until 8 p.m. Guests should know that wristbands purchased outside the fairgrounds will not be valid.

If you want to skip the line, speed up your fun with a Fast Pass. Quantities are limited, and passes cost $30. See a full list of all rides at the fairgrounds this year.

Satisfy Your Fair Food Cravings

So, what kind of food can you sink your teeth into this year? Guests will be treated to dozens of tasty treats and eats across the fairgrounds. Craving some funnel cakes or jumbo hand-dipped corndogs? Or if you’re craving something spicy, stop by Alicia’s Mexican Kitchen for some tacos and tortas and wash it down with a refreshing agua fresca.

You can’t leave the fair without a giant turkey leg! Head to Biggy’s and get your turkey legs, sausages and Hot Cheeto fries.

The Arizona State Fair is known for some wacky food options. If you want something different, get your hands on a Hot Cheeto Pickle Pizza at Enzo’s Pizzeria or Frychos and Deep Fried Poblano Poppers at Carne Cafe. Have you ever tried oysters on a stick?
