PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Phoenix Police Department is highlighting one of its officers and her career before she put on the badge, and that’s Something Good.
Before becoming an officer, Valerie Rhodes was a high school marching band instructor.
While working in schools, her school resource officer approached her and said she should consider becoming a police officer. And she did.
Now, Rhodes has come full circle and is a school resource officer at the Barry Goldwater High School in Phoenix, where she helps teach kids about basic life skills and safety.
”I never thought I would want to be back in the school system, but this is my third year at the high school and I absolutely love it. I feel like I’m able to give back to our community by working with our young people and I wish I would have made that decision years ago,” said Rhodes.
Thank you to Officer Rhodes and all the school resource officers who help keep kids safe.
