Special camp held in northern Arizona for children battling kidney issues
PRESCOTT, AZ (AZFamily) — Every year, children who are battling kidney issues gather in the high country to take part in Camp Kidney. Most importantly, it lets kids just be kids, and that is Something Good!
Camp Kidney is a camp devoted to children 8-18 experiencing kidney disease, kidney failure and other renal issues. The camp is hosted in Prescott, and children can take part in activities such as zipline, archery and s’more-making, all while in a safe and medically-equipped camp.
The camp is run by the National Kidney Foundation of Arizona staff and volunteers, many of whom are medical professionals. While at the camp, children will also be under the care of a nephrologist, a doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating kidney disease.
The best part? The camp is completely free to attend!
This year’s camp will be held from October 25-27, and slots are filling up fast! Applications for campers and volunteers are open, and staff hope to finalize sign-ups by the end of the month.
The camper application deadline is October 10. More information can be found online at azkidney.org/campkidney.
