PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A large propane truck overturned on the Loop 101 Agua Fria west of Phoenix on Thursday morning, causing an hours-long closure of the freeway.

The Department of Public Safety says five vehicles, including a propane tanker, crashed around 8:20 a.m. on the 101 between Camelback and Indian School roads. The propane truck rolled during the crash, partially crushing one vehicle underneath.

One person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

HAZMAT crews from the Arizona Department of Transportation, DPS, and the Phoenix Fire Department successfully cleared the propane leak. The propane gas was disposed, and the truck was towed off the freeway.

Phoenix Fire says there are no propane readings on the freeway or surrounding areas. There is no hazard to the public.

Southbound was closed at Camelback Road but reopened around 11 a.m., while northbound at Indian School reopened just before 12:30 p.m.
