FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AZFamily) — Flagstaff police say a Valley man has been booked into jail on several felony charges after a deadly motorcycle crash over the weekend.

Authorities say Christopher Jon Hands, 65, of Phoenix, is accused of driving his truck while under the influence when he and a motorcycle collided on Lake Mary Road around 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The motorcyclist has since been identified as 66-year-old Alan Swendsen of Flagstaff. He died at the scene.

Police say that Hands was impaired after being found following the crash. While his charges include hit-and-run, police didn’t immediately reveal how or where Hands was found after the collision or how he had allegedly fled the scene.

Hands has since been booked into the Coconino County jail on accusations of second-degree murder, failure to stop for an accident involving death and driving under the influence.

Detectives are still working to learn more about what led up to the crash. No other information has been released.
