GLENDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) - Fans of Barbie and Hot Wheels will have to wait another year to experience the new Mattel Adventure Park currently under construction in Glendale. Originally scheduled to open in 2023, supply chain issues and other delays have forced owners to move back their opening day to 2024.

Located near State Farm Stadium off Loop 101, the resort is slated to have numerous attractions for kids and adults spread across 9 acres and 160,000 square feet of themed, air-conditioned space. Initially, the park will feature a Barbie Beach House, multiple roller coasters, and an immersive nine-hole mini golf experience featuring Mattel board games such as Pictionary, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, and many others.

Ian Schwartz took a little tour as construction for VAI Resort near State Farm Stadium gets underway.

“Step into the action-packed world of Mattel Adventure Park, the only place where you can get behind the wheel of a lightning-fast Hot Wheels go-kart, join Thomas & Friends on a treasure hunt journey, or enjoy a signature pink beverage on the third-story rooftop of The Barbie Beach House,” the VAI Resort website says.
