A family affair? Chances the Suns can land LeBron, Bronny James
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An offseason full of changes is underway for the Phoenix Suns after an early playoff exit and the hiring of new head coach Mike Budenholzer.
But some Suns fans believe this team is the perfect fit for a King — LeBron James.
A lot has to happen for the Suns to be in contention, but there is a path for Phoenix to attempt to land the four-time MVP James and his oldest son Bronny this offseason.
“He has to go to the right situation with the right kind of players around him to help guide him to become a good player with a system that’s willing to give him some time,” Espo from PHNX Sports said of Bronny on The Extra Point podcast. “If the Suns didn’t have the newly announced Valley Suns in the G League, I might question it a little bit more.”
Espo said the Valley Suns give an option for Phoenix to develop a player like Bronny and monitor his improvements closely.
“I think eventually he will be a very good piece, a role player that can play great defense for you,” he said. “He’s not there right now, and I think that’s a lot of the hesitation about taking him.”
Espo said there could be times when Bronny is called up to the NBA to play with his father.
“The intrigue of playing a father-son on the same roster is something that so few athletes have had the opportunity to do,” he said. “And you know LeBron would appreciate how rare that is if he did it.”
That appreciation for major sports milestones is why Espo said he believes LeBron will “legitimately consider” teaming up with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal and the Suns.
