Report: Suns to hire former University of Washington coach Hopkins as assistant
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — New Phoenix Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer is filling out his coaching staff and has now added years of basketball experience.
Former University of Washington coach Mike Hopkins agreed to a deal to become an assistant coach for the Suns, according to ESPN sources.
The other coaches currently on Budenholzer’s staff are David Fizdale and Chad Forcier.
Hopkins brings several years of experience to the staff. He coached the Washington Huskies for seven season and has more than 30 years of overall college basketball experience.

Hopkins had a 118-106 overall record with Washington, including a PAC-12 conference title and NCAA tournament bid in 2019. He spent 22 years as an assistant on Jim Boeheim’s Syracuse coaching staff.
He also has experience coaching NBA players during his time with USA Basketball.
