Former Phoenix Suns employee claims discrimination; seeks $60 million
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A former employee of the Phoenix Suns is seeking millions in a complaint filed with the Arizona Attorney General’s Office and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, claiming discrimination and wrongful termination.
News of the filing was first reported by ESPN Senior Writer Baxter Holmes, who obtained a copy of the August 2024 complaint. The outlet identified the ex-employee as Andrea Trischan, who was the team’s program manager of “diversity, equity and inclusion,” also known as DEI.
The report says Trischan was hired just days after the NBA suspended then-Suns owner Robert Sarver over workplace misconduct. She was let go about 10 months later, according to the report.
“Trischan endured overt racist comments and a hostile work environment that went unaddressed despite being reported to HR and executive leadership,” her attorney told ESPN.
The team’s senior vice president of communications, Stacey Mitch, told Arizona’s Family that the allegations were “baseless” and “egregious.” In addition, she called Trischan’s demands for millions of dollars “ridiculous.”
Trischan’s attorneys told ESPN they are prepared and anticipate filing a formal lawsuit by November.
