BUCKEYE, AZ (AZFamily) — A man was honored for helping Buckeye police officers save two people who were overdosing at a gas station this summer.
In July, Buckeye PD got a 911 call about two men who were overdosing at a QuikTrip station.
Officer Brown was the first to arrive at the scene. She was initially alone until a bystander did Something Good and stepped in to help.
“He didn’t even hesitate. He just jumped in,” said Officer Brown.
She’s talking about a QuikTrip employee named Sergio who helped move one of the patients in the car, assessed them and took their pulse until a second officer arrived.
Sergio continued to help, assisting with getting Narcan to the officer. Buckeye Fire and paramedics soon arrived and took over.
Officers say Sergio’s quick actions and willingness to help saved two lives that day, and that’s why the Buckeye Police Department recognized him for his actions by giving him the Community Member Lifesaving Award.
Thank you, Sergio, for doing Something Good!
