Workers using paint brushes on food, to-go containers on floor found at Phoenix-area restaurants

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Every week, Arizona’s Family looks up restaurants recently inspected by Maricopa County’s Environmental Services Department. Restaurants with some of the highest numbers of “risk factors,” considered major health code violations by inspectors, are selected for our Dirty Dining Report. Here are the Valley restaurants that did not make the grade for April 3, 2024:

Alo Café - 6960 E 1st Street, Scottsdale

3 violations

• Cook not washing hands properly after handling raw eggs
• Bags of raw sausage on top of cooked corned beef
• Gaskets falling off door of reach in cooler

Rosati’s Pizza - 8490 S Power Rd, Gilbert

4 violations

• Build up of pizza dough debris in mixing pot
• Cheese and pepperoni on pizza slices not kept hot enough
• Meat sauce out of temperature
• Paint brush used to spread oil on calzones

Tonto Bar and Grill - 5736 E Rancho Manana Blvd, Cave Creek

4 violations

• Cubed ice from unapproved vendor
• Dishwasher not cleaning properly
• Pozole not cooling properly
• Lettuce and tomatoes not kept cold enough

Chompies - 3481 W Frye Rd, Chandler

5 violations

• Employee purse and glasses on top of condiment containers
• Employee touched clothing then handled food
• Hand wash sink clogged
• Meat slicer not cleaned often enough
• To-go food containers stored on floor
