Dried food on knives, butane torch on cookline found at Phoenix-area restaurants

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Every week, Arizona’s Family looks up restaurants recently inspected by Maricopa County’s Environmental Services Department. Restaurants with some of the highest numbers of “risk factors,” considered major health code violations by inspectors, are selected for our Dirty Dining Report. Here are the Valley restaurants that did not make the grade for April 17, 2024:

Kneaders Bakery and Café - 5155 E Baseline Rd, Gilbert

3 violations

• Unknown spray bottle of liquid near coffee station
• Whipped cream left at room temperature
• Turkey and cheese not kept at proper temperature

Pita Jungle - 20491 E Rittenhouse Rd Suite H-101, Queen Creek

3 violations

• Eggs above ready-to-eat foods
• Cutting boards stained with deep cuts
• Knives stored with dried food on blades

Grayhawk Golf Club - 8620 E Thompson Peak Pkwy, Scottsdale

3 violations

• Employee handled raw chicken then didn’t wash hands
• Raw salmon stored over ready-to-eat foods
• Tomato sauce not kept at proper temperature

Sauce Pizza and Wine - 3426 E Baseline Rd, Mesa

4 violations

• Dishwasher not cleaning properly
• Cooked chicken and cheese not kept cold enough
• Ranch dressing kept past discard date
• Chemical spray bottle above food pans

Harbor Seafood Cajun House - 2711 S Alma School Rd #14, Mesa

4 violations

• Raw eggs above cooked chicken
• Fried chicken not cooling properly
• Butane torch on cookline with food
• Cook not washing hands properly
