First Alert Weather Day: Heat relief in sight for metro Phoenix
PHOENIX (AZFamily)— Our streak of First Alert Weather Days ends this evening as the Excessive Heat Warning for metro Phoenix expires at 8 p.m.
Phoenix has already broken the daily high temperature record for today, which was 104 degrees set back in 1987. These temperatures continue to trend well above normal for this time of year (the average is 92 degrees).
This is the 15th day in a row Phoenix has tied or broken a high temperature record.
Dry conditions will continue through the rest of the week, with some clouds throughout the day. The ridge of high pressure bringing the heat will slightly weaken this week, so temperatures will come down a degree or two as the days progress, but Phoenix will stay in the triple digits through at least the weekend.
A week or so from now, a low-pressure system out to the west could bring cooler weather.
