Expert gardener Dave Owens, also known as “Dave the Garden Guy,” shared how to keep your plants safe in these 110°+ temperatures.

  • Owens said you should use a yardstick to check that water is three feet beneath the surface after watering your trees.
  • Non-native trees may need frequent watering in this heat, while native trees can have infrequent watering.
  • Owens recommends organic fertilizer instead of synthetic fertilizer for fertilizing your lawn.
