PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A weather pattern change has arrived in Arizona. Look for a dry day ahead for most of the state, with hotter temperatures as well.

In the Valley, expect clear skies and light winds, with morning temperatures in the 80s and 90s warming to 109 degrees this afternoon. That’s about four degrees above normal for this time of year in Phoenix.

Temperatures will climb even higher over the next few days and into the weekend. Afternoon highs will be near 110 degrees on Thursday and near 112 on Friday. Highs hover near 110 degrees over the weekend.

High pressure over our region has flattened out a bit in response to an area of low pressure moving across the Pacific Northwest. That trough is also pulling in dry air to the region, which should keep storms from forming for the rest of the workweek in Arizona.

Monsoon moisture is expected to return to the region over the weekend, but chances are highest in the mountains of the state. The Valley will see a slight chance of storms Sunday.
