A few possible morning showers bring gusty winds to Phoenix area
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A few pop-up showers and thunderstorms are impacting the Valley Wednesday morning. These may continue to pop up through the morning hours.
Evaporating rain is also leading to gusty winds. A 48 mph gust was recorded earlier this morning at Sky Harbor.
Under partly cloudy skies, look for slightly cooler temperatures today with a high of 106 degrees. Storm chances are near 20% today in the Valley.

Going forward, drier air moving into Arizona will keep storm chances confined to the higher elevations. Temperatures will also climb a bit higher, with highs near 109 from Thursday through the weekend.
For the upcoming holiday weekend, storm chances remain slim for the Valley, with just a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Sunday. Storm chances are a bit higher, near 40% in mountain communities.
