Hot holiday weekend ahead for Phoenix Metro area
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Look for a mostly sunny and hotter day ahead in the Valley of the Sun. Morning temperatures in the 80s will climb to a high of 109 degrees this afternoon, which is five degrees above normal.
Storm chances are pretty low today in the Valley but continue for the higher elevations over the next few days. Drier air moving in from the west will drop those chances for the Valley. There’s a slight chance for a few light showers Friday morning, but other than that, the Valley looks to stay dry for the foreseeable future.
Storm chances climb a bit over the weekend for southeastern Arizona and in the state’s higher elevations as a southeasterly flow of monsoon moisture returns. For people spending the holiday weekend in the mountains, storm chances are near 50%.
Valley temperatures will climb to 110 degrees Friday and to about 108 to 109 Saturday through Labor Day. Next week looks to bring even hotter temperatures, especially by the middle to second half of the week. We’ll keep you updated as we get closer.
