PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Last year, a record-breaking 55 days reached at least 110 degrees in Phoenix. With a high temperature that will likely reach over 110 on Thursday, today will probably be day 56 of 110+ heat. That would be a new record.

It’s also likely that we will not stop at 56 days. With a seven-day forecast that may have more days of 110+ heat, it’s unclear exactly how many additional days will be added. The latest day in the year on record to hit 110 in Phoenix was September 19, 2010.

In the graphic above, note that the average last day to hit 110 is August 12. However, the average trend over the past few years is much later in the year.

The graphic below shows that since 2020, the last 110+ degree temperature of the year has always been later than today’s date of September 5.

Therefore, past trends and the forecast point to at least a few more 110s in our future.
